5 Ways To Enjoy Golf More
We all love the game of golf, but some times it is just as they say, a good walk spoiled. Here are a few ways to enjoy golf more.
1 Don’t play the blue tees.
Unless you are at least a 10 handicap or lower, why bother making the golf course even harder than it has to be. If you are shooting in the 90′s or triple digits, it makes no sense making a conscious decision to making the course more difficult. Play the white tees and take the extra level of anxiety out of the equation.
2 Improve your lie
When you are having a recreational round of golf, there is no way you should be playing the strict rules of golf. The average round of golf would be at least 6 hours at courses all over the world. Golfers would be returning to the tees all day after hitting there first ball out bounds, or searching for every lost ball for 5 minutes. So if we are bending the rules to save time, why not bend them to improve your lie, something you can actually benefit from. Play winter rules all the time.
3. Play different games
Instead playing the same match with your buddies, compete in other categories other than score. Some examples would be:
Most fairways hit
Least amount of 3 putts
Most 1 putts
4 If it is your honor, take it.
You just birdie the hardest (or easiest) hole on the golf course, it’s your tee, you earned it, take it. Challenge yourself to get another one, you will be surprised how often you can have two birdies in a row if you are actually trying to get two birdies in a row.
5 Lower your expectations.
If you are a average golfer you play golf twice per week if you’re lucky, on top of that, you don’t practice as much as you should.. You can’t honestly think that your game is not exactly what it should be. Just enjoy the game itself, don’t be so hard on yourself when you’re not playing well. Even the pros have bad days.
Hockey Players And Charity Causes
Many athletes through their careers are encouraged to participate in charity events to give back to the world. Many have started foundations in their name to devote awareness, money and time to causes they believe in. Many of them do charity events from education to social awareness it’s whatever cause that’s close to their heart many of them do charity causes that are of a personal nature because of someone they know or a loved one that may have been stricken with a disease or illness to bring awareness for cures. Many of them will go out into the community to volunteer their time by hosting events or holding events in their name for specific causes. This is one of the many things the NHL stands behind is the players giving back to the community and being role models to the kids who look up to them. There are some players who don’t need to be in the league if they can’t exhibit behavior of a real role model to kids who look up to them.
The bad thing is that the athletes who engage in lifestyles that result in negative publicity this is what hurts not only them, but the reputation they stand behind if they have charity foundations in their name. There’s too many athletes to name individually who have foundations in their hands, but you usually know they’re out there on that players’ respective website. It’s always important to keep in mind that charity events also provide a chance for players to connect with their fans because without the fans they’ll be nothing since fans make the star and the star’s way to thank the people behind him since the worst thing to do is ruin that reputation with scandalous behavior and lifestyle choices. Athletes that are really about making a difference will not engage in things that will bring negative publicity to them.
Some athletes as a part of their charity work is to volunteer their time to sports clinics where children and young adults can take part in. This gives kids the chance to meet some of their favorite players and to have a chance to hang out with them for a few hours and learn a few tricks of the sport. It’s proven that kids who have positive role models fair better than those who don’t have exposure or someone they can call a role model. It’s important for many of these athletes to understand the roles they step into when they become famous and popular because part of being a celebrity is to take what is considered a respectable thing and use it for the greater good of other people.
The idea of charity work was something that’s always been a long standing tradition with many of the professional sports leagues because there’s a huge responsibility behind making a lot of money, but you also have to understand that there are people in the world less fortunate and many of these athletes especially ones who are new to the world of pro sports they have no clue to what it means to be charitable until it’s explained to them over time. Most of the time groupies will pull no stops especially for athletes who do charitable things on behalf of the team and their private foundations. You can find the charity websites of athletes on their official websites.
Coaching Soccer
Soccer is more than just an all American sport or something that some might play in their free time. It has become such a popular sport, that it is now considered to be one of the most popular games throughout the world. Almost every country in the world is found with a soccer team that helps them to get in the extra kicks towards victory.
The game of soccer was known to be developed as early as the 1500s by the Chinese and Japanese dynasties. There are also reminiscent of the game that has been found in Rome. While each of these all has different names to them, they are all based around the same concept of kicking a ball across a field in order to get a goal. The game that is most known today has been revised from these rules with a set international standard that was developed in 1863. The standards that have been set have not only allowed the game to grow in popularity, but also to become an international sport where the greatest achievement is to win the world cup.
Soccer begins with two teams of eleven players. They move onto a rectangular piece of grass where they will try to reach the objective of taking a soccer ball and moving it across the field and into a goal. The team that has made the most goals at the end wins the game. When a player gets to the goal line, they will be blocked by a goalie, as well as the soccer ball being taken from opponents on the other team in order to get the ball going in the other direction.
In the official game of soccer, there are seventeen major rules that must be followed, known as the laws of the game. These will have flexibility according to the referees and who is playing the game. This allows the game to remain fair with both teams making the maneuvers that they need to in order to work towards the goal.
Throughout the centuries, soccer has been an integral part of history. Through it’s early inception, to the later rules that have been maintained, everyone around the world has learned to love the objectives of the game. All of these bring the players closer to knowing what it means to reach the goal.
Bicycle Maintenance
Learning to ride a bike is no big deal. If you fall off, just brush yourself off and climb back on. Learning how to keep your bike from falling apart can be just as easy.
Bicycle maintenance is vital to the performance and preservation of your ride. Without proper maintenance, your bike will quickly go from a lean, mean, two-wheeled machine, to a squeaky, rusty, pant leg munching mess. Keeping your bicycle in top condition requires regular protective and preventive maintenance, some of which can be done by you. Other jobs may require the skills of a professional cycle repairer.
Tires
When riding a bicycle, most of the load and pressure falls directly on the tires. Check your air pressure to be sure the tires are inflated as per the manufacturer’s specifications. Tires should be inspected on a regular basis for any signs of ripping, or wear and tear. Wheels need regular tuning and adjustment, and should be checked for dents and twists caused by collisions or falls. Spinning is the best way to check a wheel. If the wheel shakes from side to side as it spins, it will need to be tightened. Spokes also need to be tightened and fixed firmly to the rims as part of regular bicycle maintenance. The spokes transmit pressure, so if they’re damaged they must be replaced immediately.
Handlebar
Similar to the steering wheel of a car, the handlebar is a key component in maneuvering the bicycle. A handlebar needs to be adjusted to produce the best results. Adjust the height so that you can comfortably hold the handlebar when seated. The handlebar should be properly aligned with the front wheel, to accommodate both quick swerves and smooth changes in either direction. A properly adjusted front fork is equally important. The front fork stabilizes the handlebar and should be securely fastened to the handlebar post. Also, be sure that your bicycle maintenance regime includes checking that the pedals are tightly secured.
Brakes
The single most important part of the bicycle for rider safety is the brake assembly. Check the brakes by squeezing them and rolling the bike ahead. If the brakes work properly, the wheels will not roll and the brake pads will stay squarely on the rims without touching the tires. If the brake levers touch the handlebars when pressed, it means the brake cables are loose. Tighten them and check for wear. If the brake cables are frayed, have them replaced.
Chain
Proper bicycle maintenance includes regular lubrication of the chain, to produce smooth and swift movement. Use a de-greaser to remove accumulated dirt on the grease. Remember to put fresh grease on to replace the dirty grease that has been removed. Keeping your chain clean and well lubricated will keep it from getting stuck or jumping the gear teeth.
Keeping your bicycle in prime riding condition doesn’t take a lot of tools or a great deal of technical knowledge. Bicycle maintenance is a simple task that takes only a little time and effort. Keep your bike fit and it will last many years keeping you fit.
